Today I bought myself a new camera! This is exciting because a) this is a long overdue purchase, and b) it ended up being 20 bones less then what it was advertised at! WIN!

Soon people will no longer have to interact with one another in order to find an intimate partner. Fuck that, why go through all the awkward interactions when you can just go out and buy a $7000 sex-bot?
Also: how many of you out there think there is a male sex-bot on the market? I suggest you read the Globe and Mail's article Romancing the Robot for an idea on the matter. And by idea, I mean one guy's suggestion that by 2050 men and women will be jumping at the idea of having sex with a robot.

(source)Important to remember, in the ongoing war between Camp “Unrealistic expectations for female bodies!” and Camp “It’s a model’s job to be thin!” that there are real women working who could very well drop dead in the middle of the debate on how to regulate the industry standard.
There is naturally skinny and then there is mad dieting (or exercising), not eating, taking nutrient tablets and purging skinny. I have friends in the modeling world, and not one of them will deny the crazy world of maintaining the "ideal" weight and are quite happy to be out of it (for those that are).
What I don't get is why there are so many girls out there who idolize these models or other thin celebrities (who may be naturally that skinny, but then...they only represent something like 4% of the worlds women) and then go on to begin thinspiration blogs and monitor their weight online for all the world to see. Body dysmorphia is a serious thing, and by making an individuals struggle with their weight and personal confidence something that is so public I feel like we're taking away from this illness and reinforcing this destructive behaviour.
I know, I know...it's a little idealistic of me to wish that everyone could just be happy with their bodies, but seriously. This stuff is going just a little too far. I love studying societies and behaviours, but god it can be depressing.

"A graphic anti-abortion ad featuring images of the severed body part of a fetus is set to run Monday on a Kelowna television station. The 60-second ad, titled “Everyone Against Abortion, Please Raise Your Hand,” depicts an image of an adult hand holding the severed hand of a fetus… Marlon Bartram, executive director of Kelowna Right to Life, said he was told the body part came from a Texas abortion clinic."

Putting aside for the moment the hideousness of this prospect, is anyone else perplexed by the ethics of an organization that is horrified by the idea of “killing babies” but doesn’t have a problem mutilating the corpses of those dead “babies” in question for the purpose of shock advertising?I mean, it’s a little hard to get behind the premise that they really care about human rights and the lives of “innocent babies” when they’re chopping up their bodies for a TV spot.
